My parents bought me my first electric guitar and amp when I was eleven, from Music Bay in Cheriton. I couldn’t leave it alone, and I found so much joy in all the mystery of how to play, and who to play with - a forever unfolding source of mischief! My first band was called The Umbilical Chords, a three piece covers band, and we did our first gig at our school. We played songs like ‘White Room’ by Cream, and after the gig one of the teachers said to me about hearing that song, 'Those first few notes of the solo were spot on Cream era Clapton!’ I took that and ran with it. Some early success! We probably only played two or three gigs, but by then I’d discovered how much fun it is to be a guitar player in a band, and set about getting better at it and looking for likeminded souls to play with…..
Since then I’ve been lucky enough to have had years of live and recording experience, touring all over Europe, USA, Canada and Australia, and I’m still at it. Check out my latest recordings here.
